Depending on dentition and patient’s age, as well as the issue that needs to be solved, we opt for either removable or fixed braces. In some instances a combined treatment is needed. We can’t say that one is better than the other one because both fixed and removable orthodontic devices have certain advantages, as well as disadvantages.[/top_dentist_page_heading][vc_custom_heading text=”Removable orthodontic devices – Removable braces” font_container=”tag:h3|font_size:36px|text_align:left|line_height:1.25″ use_theme_fonts=”yes” el_class=”color-primary” css=”.vc_custom_1537444329228{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1537444345360{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”]The removable orthodontic device is recommended by denists when there are still milk teeth or mixed dentition. Removable braces are comprised of acrylic part and metal wire in the shape of u an arch or a hook (archwires). Acrylic part is leaning on upper jaw palate, while on lower jaw it leans on tongue part of lower alveolar ridge. Metal wire can be shaped like an arch, a hook that covers the tooth.  Also, in the acrylic part of the removable orthodontic device a screw can be found that helps with extending alveolar arch.

This type of device is worn at night and for a few hours during day, usually by children.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”10″][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”993″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”Fixed orthodontic devices – Fixed braces” font_container=”tag:h3|font_size:36px|text_align:left|line_height:1.25″ use_theme_fonts=”yes” el_class=”color-primary” css=”.vc_custom_1537444351347{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1537444387119{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”]Fixed orthodontic devices are used for the purpose of all correcting misaligned bite. Irragularities related to bite can affect chewing, speech, and ultimately the smile aesthetics. Brackets are directly bonded on the teeth and hold the archwire in place. That is why they are called brackets or braces.

Brackets can be metal or ceramic. Ceramic ones are the closest in color to the natural teeth, and thus blend in. Braces can be placed on the front (buccal) teeth surface or on the back (lingual) side of the teeth. If they are placed on the back side we are talking about lingual arch.
